Your horse is your pride and joy so when you are looking for a ‘horse chiropractor near me’ you need to ensure you are getting the best. So how do you go about finding someone and what should you look for?

Finding a fully qualified ‘Horse Chiropractor Near Me’

The first thing you should look at is the practitioners qualifications. All McTimoney chiropractors have a masters degree from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and its perfectly ok to ask to see proof of this. If the therapist also practises massage, make sure they have a suitable qualification such as the Equinology course.

Receive veterinary permission before treating

All animal practitioners are classed as secondary carers so they MUST obtain veterinary permission before treating your animal. Be very wary of anyone who doesn’t ask this as it invalidates their insurance. I always ask that the client talk to their vet and receive permission for their horse chiropractor treatment before I come out.

I currently have an online form to fill in. I’m happy for either you to receive veterinary consent and fill out the form, or I can send the form directly to your vets. The latter is preferred as your vets can then attach any relevant case notes.

Insurance

All practitioners who see your horse must have appropriate liability insurance. Its perfectly acceptable to ask to see their insurance certificate.

Record Card

After your horse’s session I will fill out a record card that I will email to you later that day. It will contain any chiropractic adjustments made and their specific location, any muscle tightness, any major concerns and relevant aftercare and advice. If you would like, I can also email this to your vet or any other health care therapist such as your farrier.
